Did You Know? The 100th Day of 5th Grade is Extra Special!

The 100th day of school is a big milestone for students, but did you know that for a fifth grader, it’s an even bigger deal? If your school follows a 180-day calendar, the 100th day of their fifth-grade year marks their 1,000th day of school since starting kindergarten!

100 5th-grade students and staff write their names 10 times on a square to create a 1000th Day quilt! How are you celebrating?

Here’s how it works:

  1. Each school year typically has 180 days.
  2. By the end of fourth grade, students have completed 180 days x 5 years (K-4), which equals 900 days.
  3. Add the first 100 days of their fifth-grade year, and voilà—you reach 1,000 days of school!

It’s a fun fact to share with your students to make the 100th day of school feel even more special. It’s not just a celebration of their progress this year—it’s a celebration of everything they’ve accomplished since they first walked into kindergarten. 🎉
